Physical Strengths: Being a vampire she has increased strength, agility, and stamina that is triple that of a human. She is immune from all human diseases. She has increased sensory perception for hearing, sight, taste, smell, and sense of touch that is triple that of humans. She also ages incredibly slowly.
Physical Weaknesses: She has a hypersensitivity to UV light. Sunlight is especially damaging as it can burn the skin or cause skin malignancies that she would have no means of repairing. She is also severely allergic to any sort of blood thinners including natural blood thinners like garlic. She is incapable of reproduction.
Magical Abilities: Davia was born with no magical abilities as a human child and has yet to develop the innate ability of mind distortion that can come with being a vampire.

Personal Skills & Training: Davia has had some basic sword training from her father as well as having learned a few other basic predatory skills; ie locating easy prey and luring/seducing potential victims. Her father also worked with her a great deal to help her develop control over her bloodlust, making it easier for her to resist whenever she's not fed as often as she would have liked. This is very minimal, however, and could perhaps be improved with more practice and age. In addition to this, she's a rather good dancer, has a lovely singing voice, plays piano quite well, and has dabbled a bit in art though she doesn't really fancy herself an artist.

Personal Weaknesses: Davia was once a slave to what other people thought, like most young girls are. When she first met Charlie and his family, she had very limited social skills because of the way that she had been raised. She understood very little about the world and was more than once deemed naive. Since that time, she has learned a lot, but that doesn't mean that she never puts her foot in her mouth because she still does say things from time to time that most normal people would know better than to say. In addition to that, she has a weakness for excess. By that I mean that when she does something, when she indulges in something, she tends to put the peddle to the metal. She dives into things head first and thinks later. She has a distinct weakness for most things that are unhealthy, such as overindulgence in sex, usually with the same sex and only with whatever person she happens to be involved with at the time, drugs, and alcohol. At the same time, however, it's very important to her what certain people in her life, ie Charlie, think of her, so one could easily chalk him up into the category of weaknesses as well.

Personality:
Davia's personality is multi-faceted and has also undergone a lot of changes in a short period of time. When she first met Charlie, she was shy, naive, uncertain, but events in her life since then have changed her time and time again. There was a period of time where she had what she felt like was an identity crisis, when she lost herself in another persona that she created, Shaye, as a way to deal with the things that had transpired when she was still in David's care. But as was normally the case, Charlie helped her become a bit more grounded once again, and that personality was pushed aside and left for the stage at the club in which she worked, and she adapted a personality more suited to herself once in LA. She liked to have a good time, liked to enjoy life and make the best of it, but even that didn't stick all the time.

Bipolar Mood Disorder is a hereditary disease, or can be, and Davia was not spared her mother's illness. Her moods swing up and down. She will have points where she is extremely outgoing and haphazard, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, there are times when she won't even want to leave her room and she will cry for hours and hours without reason. This is something that she had dealt with for several years and something that the people close to her, Charlie and his family, have helped her to gain better control of.

History:
Elaine was the object of infatuation from a very young age. Born to an extremely religious family, it was her naive, innocent, and virtuous nature that first attracted David De Angelis. He was a vampire, and she was the sweetest human he had ever encountered in his numerous years upon the earth. At first, he was content to watch her from afar as she grew from a beautiful youth into an even more beautiful woman. He had his other vices, infatuations, but none quite like this and no matter what else happened, no matter who else he happened upon, nothing or no one could distract him from Elaine. Certainly had she been but innocent and virtuous, he would have tired of her, but there was more to her than that. She was firey and moody and fierce, all signs of a serious mood disorder, but definite turn ons as far as David was concerned. And after several years of simply watching, he decided that it was time to act upon his desires.

Elaine was twenty when she first met David De Angelis. He was a strange man but there was an almost instant attraction in spite of the voice in the back of her head that told her there was something dangerously different about him. There was a distance kept between them, almost as though he were afraid to come too close to her, and he was, for fear that he would harm her, which was the last thing he wanted to do. Their encounters were kept brief and, in spite of Elaine's attraction to him, nothing ever happened between them, and then entered Noah Shaye.

Noah was a grad student at University of the Pacific where Elaine also attended school as an undergrad. They began dating and soon she found herself quite in love with him. All the while, David was still watching, and growing more and more jealous by the minute. Years passed like days and soon, at the age of twenty-two, Elaine said her vows becoming Mrs. Noah Shaye. She was twenty-three when she found out the good news. She was expecting. Life was perfect, and David De Angelis was nothing more than a distant memory.

At thirty-two weeks, Noah and Elaine had decided to enjoy one last night out. At any time, the baby would come and their life would be forever altered. Little did they know that their lives were already on a path to change. It was as they headed towards their car through the dark and empty parking lot after seeing a late night film that Elaine saw a familiar face. She greeted him with a smile that soon faded. David, livid with jealousy, attacked them both. Noah was killed, but in spite of his state of rage, David could not bring himself to kill the object of so many years of infatuation. Elaine was taken, rather than killed or turned, her family left to believe that she too had been murdered. And though they searched for her, all searches were futile as, from that point forward, Elaine adopted David's last name, De Angelis, and a new identity all together.

On January 2nd, 1987, while with David, Elaine gave birth to a bouncing, blue eyed, blond haired, baby girl. She was named Davia Shaye after both of her fathers, per her mother's wishes. For David, it was love at first site. He cared for the child as much as the mother whom was turned shortly thereafter. In his present state, he had given up any hope of ever having a child aside from those he had sired, but Davia seemed just as much his as she was Elaine's, and he cared for her like any father would have. Things were happy for a while, life was good. Elaine's disorder seemed under control with the change, and though there was some initial resistance, in time, she gave herself over to David and seemingly grew to love him, but all of that changed when Davia was five years old.

In the summer of 1992, Elaine killed herself. Davia witnessed as her mother walked out of doors in the middle of the day and burned to death while David slept. David was devastated. Were it not for Davia, his daughter, he would not have made it through. Her mood disorder had gotten the best of her and she entered a serious downward slump. David had done all that he could to try to bring her out of it, but he had been unsuccessful. He believed Elaine, however, when she had told him all was fine, something he would regret doing from that day forward. Without Elaine by his side, California lost its appeal, and David took Davia and left Stockton to see more of the world.

Davia was, for the most part, self-educated. Her father taught her many things and when they were in a city for long enough, he would hire tutors to come and teach her things that he did not know. It took a very long time for her to fully understand what her father was, what she wasn't, and what she was one day destined to be. But once that day came, her education took a much different turn. Rather than learning math and how to read and write, she began learning how to wield a weapon, a sword to be more precise, and how to stalk humans, how to feed, how to lure ones prey, though at the time, she still remained human, and would for a few more years. This was all in preparation for when she became her mother's surrogate.

There were many things that David did not feel the need to teach his daughter. He did not teach her how a vampire could survive without taking the blood of humans, without murdering. He didn't teach her that there was even a need for that, that there was anything at all wrong with doing what he did. He didn't explain why they moved from one place to the other so frequently. He never told he that too many deaths in one place could look suspicious. And her certainly did not give her any sort of head's up as to when her own turning would occur.

David waited until his daughter had become a woman, until she had developed the same curves that her mother had once possessed, before he drained her nearly dry and then slit his own wrist so that she may drink. She was barely eighteen at the time. The pain was unbearable, and when she finally awoke from the haze that seemingly lasted a lifetime, she found herself forever altered, and that was when she fully realized what it really meant to be a vampire instead of a human. No amount of preparation could really make one ready for it. It was almost like starting over when it came to learning things again. She had the skills, knew of them, but it was a different story to learn to control them, to learn to use them, but she managed.

It wasn't long after Davia was turned that her relationship with David became less like that of a father and daughter and more like that of a man and an unwilling victim of sexual abuse. There were times when their relationship would be just as it always had been, when he would be as good and kind and tender to her as he had ever been, but then there were other times when things would turn dark, and in spite of her protests, David would force himself upon her, force her into unspeakable acts that she knew nothing about prior to their occurrence. But it was those moments when he was kind and good that kept her with him, that made her still love and care for him like a father, in spite of everything else.

And then one day, everything changed. They had spent quite some time in an American city, New York, enjoying the spoils of the town, when, with no warning, David packed them both up and took off to the middle of nowhere in the state of Virginia. It was there that he left Davia, without a word, without a notice, without a goodbye. It was here where she was recruited, offered the chance to go to a school for supernaturals. Lost without David, this seemed like the best option, and so she left Virginia behind for the hallowed halls where a whole new form of education presented itself.

Most of the things that were taught to her kind at this school were things that she already knew, about what she was, about how to control it, about her strengths and her weaknesses. As far as those things went, she learned nothing, but she did learn a lot while she was there about life in general, and it was there that she met the person that would change hers, once again, from that point forward, Charlie Burghard. Charlie was older than her but younger than her in the sense that he hadn't been a vampire for very long and she already had nearly two years under her belt. While she did all that she could to help Charlie come to terms with what he was, he did what he could to teach her about humanity, about friendship, and, in spite of his efforts to do otherwise, about heartbreak. It was easy for her to become infatuated with him because he was really the first man she had ever known aside from David, and in spite of his advice that she should avoid that at all cost, she still got hurt before all was said and done.

It was duing this time that a phone call from her father in conjunction with feelings of rejection from Charlie, as well as someone else that she had met that she had grown to have feelings for, led her to a breakdown of sorts. She decided to dive right off the deep end in proving that she was not just a little girl, spending the night with two people who didn't even care about her to prove the point, followed by a period of seclusion during which time she decided that she couldn't be Davia anymore, that the only way she could seperate herself from her sire was to go by her middle name instead, Shaye. And it was during that time that she decided to cut any and all ties with David should he ever try to contact her again.

A week long visit to Charlie's home seemed to be the turning point for both of their lives. It was then that Charlie decided that the school was not the place for him and that Davia fell madly in love with his family, and found the strength within herself to be herself and came to the realization that changing her name wasn't going to change who she was or where she had been. Upon invitation, she returned to LA with Charlie permanently where again, a new type of education awaited her. By this point in time, after the fiasco with the couple back at the school and all that had occurred right after that, she had pretty well overcome her shyness and had set her mind on one particular profession, an exotic dancer, and shortly after moving to LA and finding an apartment with Charlie, she found a job at one of the nicer places in Los Angeles. What she didn't confess to Charlie about her chose profession was that she had picked it because she didn't believe that there was anything else she could do, anything that she had to offer. But soon after taking the job, she found that it was fulfilling in all the right ways.

From the moment she set foot in LA, the city agreed with her. In spite of the fact that she had never been self-sufficient, and really, she still wasn't as she did have Charlie to fall back on, she found her placement in the city with ease. She was a beautiful girl with a natural talent for catching the attention of most anyone that happened upon her, and she flourished in her career of choice. She made friends easily, made money even easier, and grew up quickly. Within weeks, she was no longer the same shy, naive, idealistic girl that Charlie had come to know when he first met her, and one might even think that this had a lot to do with the two of them becoming much closer than they were before.
